James Ocholi : tragic auto accident

James Ocholi, a lawyer and Nigeria’s minister of state for labour and employment is dead.

He died in a ghastly auto crash today, according to a report by TVC. He was returning to Kaduna from Abuja. He was 55 years old.

Ocholi, who was on the legal team of the All Progressives Congress represented Kogi state in the young cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. He was a senior advocate of Nigeria, the highest honour for senior lawyers.

Reports said he and his wife, his son and his aide-de-camp were together inside the Prado car that crashed into a Lexus jeep.

His wife was said to have been critically injured and in coma.

The state of his son and police escort yet unknown.

Ocholi was born 26 November 1960 in Idah, Kogi state. He was his parents second child and the first born in a family of four children.

He attended Ochaja secondary school and completed his law studies at University of Jos in 1985.

He started practising as a lawyer in Ankpa in Benue state, but relocated to Lagos in the tail of the 90s. His legal practice bloomed in Lagos, before he moved to Abuja. In 2007, he became a SAN.
