Here’s what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He’s playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.
His domestic policies would lead to recession. His foreign policies would make America and the world less safe. He has neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president. And his personal qualities would mean that America would cease to be a shining city on a hill.
America has greatness ahead. This is a time for choosing. God bless us to choose a nominee who will make that vision a reality.
Donald Trump’s Reply
So this morning Mitt spoke about me, and I will address it – although it was irrelevant.
Mitt is a failed candidate. He failed badly.
That was a race that should have been won. I don’t know what happened to him. He disappeared. And I was not happy – I am not a fan of Barack Obama, and so I backed him.
And Mitt was begging me for his endorsement. I could have said: ‘Mitt, drop to your knees,’ and he would have done it.
He ran a horrible campaign. He demeaned 47 per cent of the people in our country. Once that was said, a lot of people thought it was over for him. And then he disappeared.
I called his people and said you have to do something.
Mitt was looking for zoning for a five-car garage in California or something.
I was very strong that I didn’t want to talk to him. Because he let us down. He should have won. He went away – he was gone.
He was horrible in the third debate. His campaign manager was horrible – Stuart Stevens or something. Horrible.
So when Mitt started raising his head a few months ago I said, very strongly, Mitt Romney should not run. He’s a choke artist.
And Jeb Bush – Jeb! – convinced him not to run. Jeb! Now he’s a high energy salesman.
Mitt was going to run. The second would have been a catastrophe. And Jeb had him convinced that he had the money and the support, and he didn’t run.
But I tell him what really got him scared – and that was me.
Hillary Clinton would have run rings around him. And assuming Hillary is going to run against me – if she’s not arrested.
So Mitt was going to run. And I was very angry – I wasn’t even going to run at that point, I was going to do The Apprentice.
When I heard Mitt was going to run, I said he can’t run – he’s a choke artist. We cannot take another loss. He is a choke artist – I have never seen such a choke artist, other than Rubio.
Mitt did a big big choke and we had to keep him out.
He doesn’t mention that I built a city in the West Side of Manhattan.
Ultimately Mitt chickened out. And he would have got beaten very badly.
When he talks about me, they don’t want to talk about 90 storey buildings all over the place – the West Side railroad, the Bank of America building, 40 Wall Street.
They want to talk about water – I have a water company. A magazine – I still have a magazine. A school – and by the way, Trump University had 98 per cent support rate.
