Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has broken another record.
Tomorrow he will become the first Oyo state governor from Ibadan to instal an Olubadan.
Last year, Ajimobi also became the first Oyo governor to win re-election, defeating two former governors in the state — Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala of Labour Party and Senator Rasheed Ladoja of Accord party.
Bola Ige who governed a bigger Oyo State that included Osun state, only lasted a term in the Second Republic. He was replaced by Omololu Olunloyo, who spent three months before the military came in on 31 December 1983.
Since 1999, Oyo before Ajimobi’s coming had one-term governors, starting with Lam Adesina, Rasheed Ladoja, Adebayo Alao-Akala.
People expected Ajimobi to go the same way. But he defied the expectation.
Now tomorrow, he will step out to set another record, installing a new Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
