The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has debunked the claims of some parents who have children schooling abroad that they cannot access foreign exchange, to send to their children abroad.
In a press release by the apex bank, CBN claimed that it has not stopped the allocation and sale of foreign exchange for the purposes of paying school fees and settlement of medical bills overseas. The bank therefore urged members of the public to “disregard any contrary information in respect thereof.”
In the statement signed by the bank’s Director, Corporate Communication, Ibrahim Mu’azu, the bank advises all genuine users desiring to obtain foreign exchange for the above mentioned purposes to freely approach their banks with their requests and appropriate documentation.
A national newspaper reported the weeping of some parents who had been finding it difficult to get easy access to forex from their various banks for the purpose of paying the fees of their children schooling abroad.
