Austrian player, Dominic Thiem saw off former world number one Rafael Nadal and defending champion in the semi-final of the Argentina Open, played in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
Twenty two year old Thiem, ranked fifth outplayed Nadal in three sets,6-4 4-6 7-6.
Nadal is the first seeded player in the tournament, played on his favorite clay surface outdoor.
Thiem will now await the winner of the match between the Spanish duo of Nicolas Almagro and number two seed David Ferrer, to know his final opponent.
Thiem is currently the youngest player in the top 20 and top 30 of the world.
