Mother of Taraba deputy governor freed

Hajiya Belli Manu, mother of  the deputy governor of Taraba state, Haruna Manu  has been freed by her abductors, according to reports from Jalingo.

It was not clear whether any ransom was paid.

Only yesterday, the kidnappers made contact with the family demanding a ransom of N300million, with the old woman  appealing to her children, on phone,  to meet the demands of her captors to secure her freedom.

Hajiya Belli Manu  was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen  at about 9.30pm on Monday  at her residence in Bakin Kasuwa area of Mutum Biyu town, 70 kilometres from Jalingo, the state capital.

The kidnappers said to be  about ten  killed a middle aged man outside the  family house before taking the woman away.
