Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has begun a short vacation, with effect from today, February 5. He will be away till 10 February.

A statement by media adviser, Femi Adesina did not indicate where the president will spend the five days.

But it is presumed he is staying back in London, where he attended Thursday a summit on Syria.

While President Buhari is on vacation, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will perform the functions of the President.

In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

President Buhari left Nigeria on Wednesday for France, where he addressed the EU Parliament in Strasbourg and the United Kingdom, where he attended a summit on Syria.

He was scheduled to return to Nigeria at the weekend.

Before he left Nigeria, BUhari had a busy three-day working session, capped with a two day visit to Ogun state, where he commissioned some of the projects of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, to mark the 40th anniversary of Ogun state.
