Angelique Kerber, with the Australian Open trophy

Miss Serena Williams has lost her bid for dreamed 7th Australian title to Germany’s Angelique Kerber, seeded 7th in the tournament, losing 4-6 6-3 4-6

Miss Williams just simply failed to re-enact her form in the tournament gifting the German the championship with so many unforced errors, 46 at the last count, to  28 year old Kerber’s 13.

Serena also committed six double faults to Kerber’s three. She played so erratically to give many her fans watching at the Rod Laver arena and on live TV broadcast heart attack.

The victory was Kerber’s first Grand Slam singles crown, and her eight career singles title.

The German has further postponed the American’s dream to match  German great Steffi Graf on 22 Grand Slam crowns.
