Dare devil robbers on motorcycle struck at filing station in Ejigbo area on Friday 1 January 2016 and carted away N9m kept in the office and escaped with their motorcycle in Lagos State Western Nigeria. The incident happened at popular station located at Jakande estate along Ikotun Ejigbo road Ejigbo Lagos.

TheNEWS gathered that the incident happened after the station management staff were about to take the money loaded in a bag to a nearby bank before the robbers struck. Although it was a public holiday, banks have special arrangement to collect huge cash from their major customers, a facility that they even extend to them after 4 pm working hours.

How the robbers knew that such amount was kept in the station and was being taken to a bank was still a surprise for residents who knew what happened.
The residents said that the attackers might have been informed by an insider who knew the movement of the money.

TheNEWS also gathered that the management kept the money after three days of sale and was unable to lodge the money in a bank. The day they eventually wanted to go to bank to deposit was the day the robbers attacked and stole the money.

Following the attack, the station was shut and the manager arrested including the workers for interrogation. They were initially arrested by the police at Ejigbo division who transferred the suspects to SCID Panti Yaba, Lagos.

An eye witness said the robbers struck at 4 p m on that day and pointed a gun at the manager’s head and ordered him to released the money parked in a big sack. The manager surrendered and they carried the money and escaped with their motorcycle.

When our reporter visited the station on Thursday ( this morning), the place was shut and no sales were being made.

A private security officer employed after the incident declined to speak and said the Director was not around to speak. However, our reporter was informed that a new set of staff has been brought to manage the station while the former staff were at the police for investigation on the incident.

When our reporter visited Ejigbo police division, the DPO was not around to comment on the matter. However, sources at the station confirmed the incident and directed our reporter that the suspects have been transferred to SCID pant for further interrogation.
