In Video: Yaya Toure’s magical goal at Watford

Manchester City clawed back from behind to snatch victory in London against Watford Saturday night, and keep themselves in touch with Arsenal and Leicester on the League table.

Trailing their hosts 0-1 after Aleksandar Kolarov’s own goal in the 55th minute, time was almost running out for the team from Manchester when Yaya Toure produced a magical goal at the 82nd minute. A corner kick by Kolarov came straight to Toure who volleyed the ball into Watford’s net, with his left foot, to put his club back into contention for the three points or at least a share of the spoils. The goal was even better in quality than the one scored against Arsenal at the Emirates before the Christmas break.

Three minutes after, Sergio Aguero completed the night of magic heading another cross by Bacary Sagna into the net for the winning goal. What a turn of fate within five minutes: it was watford that left the field empty handed. The visitors escaped with all the three points.

“I always said this game would ask a lot of us in character – we never gave up, we are a team with a lot of characters.”, said Manuel Pellegrini City coach after the match.

” We were unlucky to be losing. We kept cool, continued to try to score, made some substitutions and always thought we could change the score. But we took a risk because a draw was not good for the team.”

And for Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores, the game was bitter to lose.
“It’s very hard to accept. We played fantastically well, but we conceded a couple of plays – and for Man City, a couple of plays is enough. We played really well but it’s football and we will learn the lessons for the future. I think my players deserved more. When you consider the level of the opponent, I think it’s impossible for us to do more than we did today.”
