Jean-Serge Bokassa, 43, a son of the late brutal dicator, Emperor Bokassa, is among the 30 candidates that will participate in the 30 December Presidential election in the Central African Republic.

The young Bokasa was educated in a Swiss boarding school when his father was toppled in 1979. This will be his first shot at the presidency, though he believes politics is his calling. What is not clear, however, is how far he can go.

Among other contestants are Georges Dologuele, 58, widely known as Mr. Clean; “Iron man” Ziguele, 58, a former prime minister who, according to a report, lived and worked in nearby Togo for decades before taking up a top job at the taxation department in his country; Abdoul Karim Meckassoua, a former minister; Eugene Sylvain Ngakoutou Patasse, 46, the son of ousted President Ange-Felix Patasse, who ruled from 1993 to 2003 and others
