La Liga: Barcelona drop points at Camp Nou

Iniesta battling for the ball

Barcelona, taking a leave from La Liga for the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan, allowed sixth placed Deportivo La Coruna snatched an unlikely draw at Camp Nou on Day 15 of La Liga.

The Catalans appeared to have bagged the three points, with Lionel Messi opening scoring on 39th minute and Ivan Rakitic  making it a double on 62nd.

But Depor rallied back, reducing the deficit at the 77nd minute with a goal by Lucas Perez. And just four minutes to the end of play, Alejandro Bergantinios broke Barca hearts with the equaliser.

Said midfielder Andre Iniesta: “The game was going well, it was 2-0. We lost control and let two points get away.”

The result left Barcelona just three points ahead of Atletico Madrid and five ahead of Real Madrid.

Both teams are expected to play Sunday.

The FIFA Club World Cup will end on 20 December.
