Mourinho dealt a big blow by Glenn Murray

A midfield struggle for the ball with Chelsea’s Willian

This is certainly the worst season for Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho as a game he had thought his team would casually bag the maximum points ended in another disaster.

AFC Bournemouth super sub,  Glenn Murray’s late header secured a 1-0 victory for the team  at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and protracted Mourinho’s agony.

Murray had been on the pitch for just 99 seconds when he struck the decisive blow with just eight minutes of normal time remaining as Jose Mourinho’s side, who lie 14th in the table, succumbed to their eighth defeat of the season and their first loss to a newly promoted side since December 2001, when Kevin Lisbie scored the winner in a 1-0 success for Charlton Athletic.

A gutted Mourinho  felt his team ought to have gotten a just  reward for their efforts.

‘We don’t deserve this result,’he said in the post match interview, while also raising issues that the team ought to have been awarded a penalty and that Murray’s goal was offside.

‘Yes it was a penalty (the handball) and the goal was offside but the referee made a mistake and the linesman made a mistake. That’s football”, he added.

‘Before the game I was still thinking we can finish in the top four. Everybody is losing points. Only Leicester are consistent in victories, they keep winning and winning. I’m really disappointed with the result, not so disappointed with the performance but very disappointed with the result. Let’s think about winning the next game and forget about targets because to fix targets with our inconsistency is difficult.’

For now, his focus is simply on the next game, which is against Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday.
