Secretary General of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, has commended coach of the U-23 Dream Team, Samson Siasia for the way he responded with the kidnap of his mother, Madam Ogere Siasia.

Sanusi said Siasia has not for once let the unfortunate incident of his mother affect his focus and concentration in the camp of the U-23 Eagles preparing for the Africa’s U-23 Nations Cup starting in Senegal this weekend.

“Siasia is a man, “ said Sanusi. “There is no doubt that Siasia has a strong character. He has not allowed the situation of his mother to affect the national assignment committed into his hands. I spoke with him and expressed our regrets on the plight of his mother kidnapped. He has been focused on the job giving to him by the country. We can only pray that the police succeed in rescue back Siasia’s mother very soon, “ Sanusi said.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police has revealed how gradually they are closing in on the kidnappers of Siasia’s mom in Bayelsa State. Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Police Command, Anisim Butswat said on a Lagos – based radio station that the Force is working with other security agencies in the state to ensure safety return of aged mother of the former Nigerian international.

“Immediately the incident happened we swung into action with other security agencies to form a joint task force. With our intelligence, I can assure that we are closing in on the kidnappers in the creek. We are intensifying our efforts and very soon we’ll get the mother out. We don’t want to encourage payment of ransom. In this case, we’ll get Siasia’s mother out, “ said Butswat.

The 72-year-old mother, Ogere, was abducted recently in the village of Odoni in southern Bayelsa State, by three men on a motorbike. Report, however, quoted Siasia to have revealed that the men that kidnapped his mother were demanding for N150 million and were sticking to it.
