The Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase has assured that the police are working round the clock to ensure the safe release of the mother of Coach Samson Siasia who was abducted two days ago from her house. Arase disclosed this today in Ibadan capital of Oyo State during a working visit to the state

He disclosed that the main challenge the force initially had in securing the release of the abducted mother has to do with the terrain in which the abductors operate adding that the challenges are now being overcome and the safe release of the mother of the Nigerian Under-23 head coach would be actualised soon.

According to him, “The police are working to ensure the mother is released as soon as possible. The difficulty we have initially is the terrain in that area. Mostly, they (the abductors) usually come through the riverine areas but we are working and overcoming that and I can assure you that she will be release very soon.”

During a courtesy visit to the state Governor Abiola Ajimobi, he stated that his mission in the state is to enlighten his men in the state about community policing adding, “I am here in the state to talk and discuss with my men and officers that community partnership is the trend in policing world over and that nothing meaningful can be achieved without the collaborative support of members of the community at all levels. I want them to realise and see members of the community as strategic and important partners to successful community policing. More so, that they must be human rights compliant and respect the rule of law in the discharge of their duties by not harming those they are suppose to protect.”

He also told the governor that his men dispatched from Federal Capital Territory, Abuja has arrested a gang of kidnappers terrorizing the state assuring that very soon, they would be prosecuted in the court of law.

Responding, Governor Ajimobi acknowledged the efforts of the Nigerian police in tackling the security challenges in the country, urging them not to relent in making the country safe for all the citizens.
