The National Representative Council, (NRC) of the Ijaw National Congress, (INC) has sacked Barrister Boma Obuoforibo, as president and begun the move to search for a successor.
Obuoforibo was found guilty by a 7-man panel for “gross misconduct” and other offences.
Subsequently, the NRC on November 10, 2015 at its meeting headed by Professor Francis Sikoki in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital at the headquarters of INC ratified the investigative Panel’s, 10-point recommendation and subsequently impeached Barrister Obuoforibo in line with Articles 25 (b) (iii) and 25 (b) (v) of the 2009 INC constitutio. Engineer Ebieridei Charles Ambaiowei has meanwhile been appointed as the Acting President.
Pastor Victor Burubo, public relations officer of the group said the search for new President had begun and must be concluded within the time frame of 60 days.
According to the PRO, “the next President must come from the Eastern zone of the Ijaw speaking region. He must be somebody who has interest in the INC struggle and must not be greedy for self-gains. In other words, he must have self-integrity.”
