CAR sets election for 27 December

Catherine Samba-Panza, interim President of the Central African Republic

A Central African Republic (CAR) presidential decree published on Tuesday in Bangui has approved the legislative and presidential elections for Dec 27.

The publication stated that the vote would be preceded by a referendum on December 13 on a proposed new constitution that would limit future presidents to two five-year terms in office.

The decree stated that the exercise would be followed by a second round of elections if necessary on January 31 2016.
