Since her conception, Dr. Ada has been placed under medical surveillance to ensure that her child is Ebola-Free. The baby, upon birth, has been certified Ebola-free.

To mark this wonderful news, the staff and friends of First Consultants Medical Centre are in jubilation mood as they welcome a new lease of life to the institution and in memory of fallen colleagues and survivors of Ebola.

The World Health Organisation, in concert with the Centre for Disease Control, formally declared Nigeria Ebola-Free on October 20, 2014.

Ebola broke out in Nigeria in July 2014 when a Liberian, Patrick Sawyer died at the First Consultant Medical Centre, Lagos due to Ebola. About 13 people died of the deadly disease in Nigeria, including Dr. Ada Adadevoh, who prevented Sawyer from travelling to Calabar where he could have infected more people with the deadly virus.

The rapid response of the Lagos State Government with the support of the Federal Government, the WHO and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC put an end to Ebola in the country.
