Northern governors of the states bordering the dangerous Kamuku Forest of Kaduna, after a two- day meeting in Kaduna, have expressed their determination to completely wipe out deadly criminals from there.
Governors of the seven states: Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi and Sokoto went into an over a five-hour closed down meeting brainstorming on ways to review and end the security threats posed by the forest that has become a hide out for criminals.
Addressing journalists today shortly after the closed door meeting, Chairman of the occasion, and Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, said the governors resolved that the joint task force, comprising the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps should continue with the operation until the criminals are sent out of the dangerous forest.
Masari also disclosed that governors tasked the Joint Task Force to redouble their efforts at safeguarding lives and property. Apart from assuring people of the concerned states, Masari equally promised that lingering insecurity in the areas will soon come to an end.
Earlier in his brief remark, Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Barnabas Bala Bantex, who represented the host governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai said Kaduna is working hard to ensure the Kamuku forest is free of criminals.
He also said the state government will support every decision taken by the security agencies involved in sanitizing the forest.
