The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase, has directed companies using Supernumerary Police (SPY) nationwide to stop the use of Police uniform for their operations on or before 1 January, 2016.

The IGP gave this directive today, at a meeting with Security Managers of companies using SPY Police for their internal security.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, the IGP noted that this measure part of his administration’s renewed crime fighting strategy, was aimed at curtailing the activities of criminally minded persons who disguised in police uniform to perpetuate their nefarious activities.

However, he has approved the use of a newly designed grey and black trouser as the new uniform to be worn by spy police officers nationwide.
