A bomber’s bike left at a scene of bloodshed

At least six persons were killed this morning in Maiduguri by a Boko Haram suicide bomber, less than 12 hours after multiple bombs destroyed a mosque on the outskirts of the city.

Today’s suicide bombing happened near the venue of Thursday night attack at a mosque in Molai, 10 km south of the city.

A spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the new casualties.  The female bombers were also killed, while 17 people were wounded.

The latest bombing occurred at Umarari Bayan Waya area of Mulai Village, around a few minutes past 5am when Muslim faithful were getting ready for the early morning prayer.

The explosion claimed the lives of the suicide bombers and four others while 17 injured are currently receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital.

At least 36 people have  now been killed in the rash of suicide attacks, in 12 hours, according to police and medical sources.

The  twin suicide bombing at the  mosque on the outskirts of the state capital Maiduguri killed around 29 people late on Thursday, a medical source said.

A police spokesman put the toll at 14.

On Tuesday, blasts detonated by three suicide bombers killed at least seven people. Eleven people were injured.

The explosions are the worst attacks on the city, capital of Borno state, since 54 people were killed and 90 injured in bombings three weeks ago.
