Charing Cross Police Station: where Diezani was questioned today on money laundering allegations

Nigeria’s former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke cannot leave London for now,

Her passport has been seized by the UK Police,granted bail and ordered to report on Monday at the Charing Cross Police Station.

She was arrested today by a newly created International Corruption Uni, part of the UK National Crime Agency. Four other persons, not yet identified were arrested with her, picked up from various areas of London.

The agency said she was arrested as part of an investigation into suspected bribery and money laundering offences.

Simultaneously, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC also raided the homes of Diezani in Abuja. Also raided were the office and home of Jide Omokore in Lagos.

Omokore was a business ally of Diezani and owner of SPOG and Atlantic Energy, with the latter firm involved in some shady oil deals, running into billions of dollars.
