Nyako’s case reset for 22 October

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday adjourned former Gov. Murtala Nyako’s case to Oct.22 to enable Mr Yukubu Maikyau SAN,, the counsel to the third accused person, Zulkifikk Abba, to study the case file.

Nyako, a former Governor of Adamawa, was arraigned with his son, Abdul-Aziz Nyako, and Abba by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a 37-count charge bordering on corruption, abuse of office and money laundering.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Maikyau informed the court that he just received the case file and needed time to study it.

Earlier, counsel to the accused persons, Mr Kanu Agabi SAN, had told the court that the third accused had contracted another lawyer to defend him.

The judge, Justice Chuckwu Evoh, after listening to the submissions of counsel of parties in the suit, adjourned the case to Oct. 22 for hearing.
