A Nigerian pilgrim in Saudi Arabia, Morufdeen Adeola Adefolabi has been declared missing by his family.
Adefolabi, a former member of the Federal House of Representative from Lagos State, was believed to have been caught in the stampede that happened in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, and in which hundreds of pilgrims died.
His daughter Adetutu Eshiet said the family has not heard from him since last Thursday.
“The private Travel Agency (Zero Interest, Lagos) he went with have not been able to find him among the dead or injured and I understand that Lagos State has not declared anybody missing which may be true because my Father did not go with the Lagos State Group. However, he is a Lagosian”, wrote Adetutu.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria today declared 244 Nigerian pilgrims missing in Saudi Arabia, while it also increased the death toll of Nigerians from 54 to 64.
