The death toll in the stampede of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia has increased to over 450, from 310, according to latest reports. Close to 800 people were also injured.
And the Iranian government which lost 15 citizens in the chaos has accused Saudi Arabia of safety errors.
The head of Iran’s hajj organisation, Said Ohadi, said that for “unknown reasons” a path had been closed off near the scene of the symbolic stoning of the devil ritual where the accident later took place.
“This caused this tragic incident,” he said on Iranian state television.
