Wife of council chief abducted in Kebbi state

The wife of Alhaji Adamu Birnin-Yauri, the director of finance in Bagudu  local council Kebbi State, has been abducted by gunmen.

Hajia Aisha Adamu was abducted on Monday in Yauri.

The Acting Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 10 Sokoto, Mr Olufemi Ogunbayode, has assured parents of a kidnapped woman that the police would rescue the woman.

The acting AIG gave the assurance during an inspection tour of the Kebbi State Police Command in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

He said the police were informed of the kidnapping on Tuesday and that the command would put machinery in motion to rescue the woman alive.

The Yauri Emirate Council had complained earlier that it had been facing increasing cases of abductions.
