A portion of the Lagos State Mnistry of Commerce and Industry at the Secretariat, Alausa in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria has been gutted by fire.

The fire started around 1.00p.m today and razed part of the third floor of the ministry.

At least four offices were destroyed in the fire.

Officials of the Lagos State Fire Service raced to the scene of the fire as they were informed and were able to put out the fire before it razed the entire building.

The Alausa Fire Station responded to the emergency with 10000 litres of water to quell the fire.

Our correspondent reports that the cause of the fire has not been ascertained.
