Kaduna State government said it has realised N24 billion just few days after commencing the operation of the Treasury Single Account , TSA in the state.
El-Rufai also said the state government discovered several ghost workers and schools during the recently concluded Biometrics Verification Exercise of civil servants in the state.
Kaduna Governor , Malam Nasir El-Rufai who made this known during the third edition of his monthly Town Hall meeting held at New Choice Hall at Kafanchan, Kaduna disclosed that the state government was able to discover the whopping amount in 470 accounts operated in 23 banks by the operating the new policy of one single account with Central Bank of Nigeria.
The governor who used the occasion to brief residents and people of Southern Kaduna on the achievements made so far in the areas of education, health, security and other sectors of economy , reiterated the commitment of his administration to change the way government works .
According to Governor El-Rufai , the state government under the current dispensation is doing every thing possible to block leakages, cut cost of governance and all forms of financial recklessness and will continue to do so .
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Architect Bala Barnabas Bantex , El-Rufai informed the audience at the town hall meeting of efforts made by his government to triple the state’s Internally Generated Revenue , IGR .
He gave assurance that with the plan and strategy put in place , which will be fully operational soon , the IGR of Kaduna will exceed the money we get from federation account.
He equally revealed that plans have reached advanced stage to transform Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria into ultra modern cities .
While expressing dismay over the debt profile of the state under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP administration, El-Rufai vowed to crush all barriers that would hinder his government from fulfilling his campaign promise to provide free and compulsory education, free feeding of students, revive comatose industries, renovate and build befitting health centres and other forms of development .
He stressed , ” We are voted into office to perform and not give excuses.”
He however urged the citizens of the state to support the government in avowed and genuine commitment to work , develop and make Kaduna great again.
The Special Adviser on Political Matters , Dr. Uba Sani disclosed the idea of the town hall meetings organized by his office is to bring the governor and the people together under one roof to discuss issues of development.
Sani however enjoined the citizens to reciprocate by avoiding anything that breach the existing peace and on going development plan of the government.
