Oyo State House of Assembly, today, constituted a committee headed by the Majority Leader, Hon. Kehinde Subair, to find a lasting solution to the incessant Fulani/ Bororo herdsmen and farmers crisis in the state. The constituted followed the last month August 20, summoning of all the parties concerned with the crisis to appear before the state assembly. Among those summoned are: the Permanent Secretary and Director, Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Commissioner of Police, the Chairman and Secretary, Fulani/Bororo Cattle Breeders Association, the Oyo State Farmers Association and the head, Oke-Ogun Farmers Association.
Before the invitees took turns to address the house, the Speaker of the state, Hon. Michael Adeyemo charged all parties to co-exist peaceful, urging the traditional rulers and security agencies to be more responsible. Addressing the assembly, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Gabriel Kehinde and Oyo State Chairman, All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Mr. Solomon Odedeji, said that the solution to the problem was the creation grazing reserve.
Odedeji urged the assembly to caution traditional heads, who have been collecting graft and conniving with the herdsmen. He also urged the assembly to charge the police towards discharging their duties without favouritism saying that they have been experiencing difficult times with them.
The Oyo State Chairman, Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Yakubu Bello said that he was happy for the summon by the assembly, saying such would foster unity among parties. Bello alleged that farmers in the state often lace their farmlands and crops to poison their cattle, which had caused the death of many of their livestock. He also alleged that the grazing reserve made available for them at Ayete and Igangan areas of the state were not accessible because the community ploughed the land to chase them off.

i am using this opportunity to thank the oyo state house of assembly, for bringing up this issues of fulani and farmers crisis, i want to urge the two chairman of both parties that they should take the matter very serious, because the attitude of the fulani people towards the farmer in the state is very bad, how can somebody try to crop something and another person will go there and scatter that thing is not proper most especially igangan and ayete side, is very very annoying and fraustration can make the farmer to do bad thing to the cattles.
