The Borno government on Sunday appointed Alhaji Adamu Dibal, a one-time Deputy Governor of the state, as the new Amirul Hajj of the state for the 2015 Holy Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

This followed the sudden death of Alhaji Mustapha Zanna, the state Deputy Governor on Aug. 14.

Alhaji Malam Fannami, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, made the announcement in a statement in Maiduguri.
Fannami said that the appointment followed the approval of the state governor.

“Gov. Kashim Shettima has approved the appointment of Alhaji Adamu Dibal as this year’s Amirul Hajj, following the demise of late Mustapha Zanna.

“The appointment takes immediate effect,” he said.

Fannami said that by the appointment, Dibal was expected to coordinate activities of the state pilgrims in the Holy Land.

“The governor wishes him successes in undertaking his duties,” he said
