Chief Coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has revealed that six local based players will be selected to join the professional players in the second phase of the team’s camping ahead of their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tanzania on 5 September. Twenty three players from the domestic league have been training with Oliseh and other technical crew members of the Eagles at Abuja camp.

It has been widely reported that five of the players would be selected for the second phase of the camping, but the Chief Coach revealed on his twitter handle early Friday that his plan is to select the best six from the players to join the invited foreign based ones who will continue with the camping from Monday. Oliseh tweeted: “6 local players make it to join the final batch on Monday as we proceed to our final week before facing Tanzania.”

Oliseh has also expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his local based players’ performance, following Thursday’s 3-0 win in a practice match against Amakson Academy in Abuja.

Sunshine Stars and the current League season’s top goal scorer, Tunde Adeniji, got a first half brace against the academy team and Wikki Tourists’ Godwin Obaje completed the easy win as the camp enters its final phase before the list of six players for the AFCON qualifier against Tanzania is announced this weekend.
