The President and Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries International, Ibadan, Oyo State, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, has said that Christian movies have more lasting relevance than secular ones. The renowned Christian actor, script writer, director and producer, disclosed this at a press conference he granted recently to mark the 30th year of Mount Zion Faith Ministries.

When asked if the secular artistes have more impact than their gospel counterparts, he said, “The secular artistes may have more impact in the areas of publicity, emotion and excitement but the major impact Christian movies have is on the soul of man. For example, the ‘Beginning of the End’, produced in 1990, is still very relevant today.” He went further, “There is no secular movie made in 1990 that has such relevance. Christian movies, generally, have lasting relevance as they bless lives and touch souls. An ideal Christian movie is consistently relevant to all generations, but same cannot be said for all secular movies.” He therefore encouraged Christian artistes to keep their master tapes because the movies have life in them and cannot die.

Going down memory lane, the Evangelist said he started the ministrie 30 years ago, while they rolled out the first movie in 1990. In August 2014, he said the ministries produced its 100th movie. He said between then and now, they had produced 15 movies, even though some of them are yet to be released for the viewing audience.

He said the turning point came for the ministries in the 90s when God led them to produce a film titled ‘Agbara Nla’ which was later translated to ‘the Ultimate Power.’ He said many people thought they were rich through that movie but he said God never promised them wealth in terms of money but fame.

On why he has not been featuring in other Christian movies outside the ones produced by Mount Zion, he said God told him at the beginning of the ministry not to do so, however, he said time has now come for him to be featuring in other Christian movies outside Mount Zion.

The anniversary celebration in the movie ministries kicked off on 20 August 2015, with an anniversary march from Molete Baptist Church to Jogor Centre while free movies were distributed. There was also a movie premiere where documentary movies were shown and other variety presentations in the evening. Tonight, there will be live drama presentation while the main anniversary ceremony comes up on Saturday, August 22nd. There will be special prayers for drama ministers and other ministers of God as well as the graduation ceremony of the first set of diploma students in Christian Drama Arts.
