Tambuwal sends 21-man team to Hajj, deputy governor leads

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has approved the appointment of a 21-member delegation from the state to the 2015 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The high-powered delegation is to be headed by the state’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, while Alhaji Abubakar Malami is the Secretary.

Special Adviser to Tambuwal on Media and Public Affairs, Imam Imam disclosed this in Sokoto on Friday.

Other members of the delegation include the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Salihu Maidaji and his predecessor and now District Head of Gwadabawa, Alhaji Lawalli Zayyana.

Some other members are the former Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu, the state’s Chief Judge, Mrs Aishatu Dahiru, the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sahabi Gada and his predecessor, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi.

The former Chairman of the state Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Umarun Kwabo and a member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Sa’adu Nabunkari (APC-Sokoto) are also members.

The statement noted that the delegation was charged with the responsibility of coordinating the activities of all the sub-committees, with a view to ensuring successful Hajj.
