Nigerian Ports Authority: Buhari sacks Bayero, restores Abdullahi

Abdullahi Habibu: reinstated as NPA Managing director

President Muhammadu Buhari terminated the appointment of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero, barely four months after he was appointed into the position by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Femi Adesina, spokesperson for President Buhari said the termination of Alhaji Bayero’s appointment is with immediate effect in a statement he issued to announce the development.

The April 29 appointment of Bayero was one of the series of rash appointments made by the former President following his loss of the March 29, 2015 presidential elections.

Bayero: sacked

The former President had directed Bayero to take over from Alhaji Habibu Abdullahi, who was relieved of his appointment as M.D. of the authority. No reason was given for the sack of Abdullahi then.

In a reversal of that process, President Buhari also directed Bayero to hand over the management of the NPA and all government property in his possession to Habibu Abdullahi who has been reinstated as Managing Director of the NPA by President Buhari.

Adesina added in the statement that President Buhari wishes Alhaji Bayero well in his future endeavours.

  • Habib if you stand against corruption, you have as one of your first task the cleaning of all departments of the organisation. headquarter must be cleaned, all nomination for traning must be decentralised so as to serve its purpose, not an avenue to enrich few officials. Political contracts must be stopped to check wastages and many more.
