El-Rufai appoints new accountant-general

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has appointed Umar Hassan Waziri as the new Accountant-General of the State.

The governor has also retired three permanent secretaries, who have been directed to immediately hand over to the most senior director in their ministries.

The retired permanent secretaries are Adamu Makadi ( Local Government), Ibrahim Balarabe Musa ( Youth, Sports and Culture) and Ishaku Shekari (accountant-general).

The statement added that El-Rufai expressed appreciation of the state for the services rendered by the retired officials during the course of duty as Permanent secretaries .

The Special Assistant , Media and Publicity ,Samuel Aruwan said the appointment of the Accountant-General and retirement of the permanent secretaries are part of the ongoing reorganisation of the state’s public service, for greater effectiveness.

The new Accountant-General is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) , who studied Accounting at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and graduated in 1995.

Born in Zaria in 1971, Waziri has worked with Shell Petroleum Development Company as internal auditor and until his appointment was running his own accounting firm.
