Tottenham gift Man U first three points

Miserable Walker watches in horror as the ball goes in his own net

Manchester United have won their first three points in the Barclays Premier League, not with a Wayne Rooney goal, but a gift by Tottenham Hotspur.

A defensive error by Kyle Walker that tapped the ball away from Rooney, inside the box, was all the Red Devils needed to clinch the full three points at home.

Walker watched in horror as the ball crossed into goal. It was the 22nd minute of play and United never scored their own goal.

It was a game in which United failed to display their old flame. Indeed the visitors enjoyed more possession in the first twenty minutes of the game. The visitors had more shots on target 7-5 and were unfortunate not to find the net as they mounted pressure at United goal mouth in the last 10 minutes of the game.
