Okorie, in a statement said that President Muhammadu Buhari was serious about fighting corruption.
He pointed out that efforts of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Allied Offences Commission (ICPC) and other security agencies to fight corruption had been rendered ineffective by the judiciary.
According to him, Nigerians are convinced that the president can fight corruption to its barest minimum.
He recalled that Buhari made the commitment to the people during his campaigns before the elections.
Okorie advocated that the fight against corruption must be holistic and decisive if the cankerworm must be eliminated.
“We believe that no amendment of existing laws is required to embark on this important and crucial aspect of sanitising the Nigerian society and restoring discipline and morality in Nigeria.
“We are advising against this because beneficiaries and perpetrators of corruption in Nigeria are vicious, dangerous and subversive,’’ he said.
