Various reports this morning said the Nigerian police investigation of an alleged forgery of National Assembly standing rules has finally yielded the obvious: there was indeed a forgery.

A report of the probe has been sent to President Muhammadu Buhari, as the police plan to prosecute the alleged culprits.

APC senator Sulaiman Hunkuyi from Kaduna state had petitioned the police, alleging that the rules used for the election of Senator Bukola Saraki and Senator Ike Ekweremadu as senate president and deputy senate president, were a fabrication.

The Police have recommended the prosecution of those found culpable, putting on the spot, the Clerk, Salisu Maikasuwa and other collaborators.

Senator Ekweremadu, Senator David Mark and Saraki were all quizzed in the course of the probe.

President Buhari, according to his aides, will not intervene in the prosecution of the culprits, according to his media spokesman, Garba Shehu.
