Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the service chiefs of the army, navy and air force and the chief of defence staff, a presidency spokesman said on Monday.
Mr. Femi Adesina, the spokesman added that their replacements would be announced later on Monday.
The move was widely anticipated Buhari, a former military head of state has made cracking down on Islamist militant group Boko Haram his number one priority.
The Chiefs are Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Kenneth Minimah, The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin and Air Chief, Air Vice Marshal Adesola Amosu and chief of defence staff Air Marshal Alex Badeh.
