Serena Williams beats sister Venus

Serena Williams with older sister, Venus

Serena Williams overpowered her elder sister, Venus 6-4, 6-3, in the Wimbledon fourth round today, to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament.

With all the hype around the match, the two sisters tried to put in their best in centre court, but the older sister fell short, unable to contain Serena’s race to victory in one hour, eight minutes.

The victory was Serena’s first Grand Slam match against Venus in six years.

The world number one came through 6-4 6-3 in one hour and eight minutes on Centre Court.

Serena, two years younger at 33, has now won 15 of the American siblings’ 26 professional contests.

She remains on course to complete the third leg of a possible calendar Grand Slam.
