Musa Oshodi, President of Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), says the Federation will surpass the target given to it by the National Sports Commission (NSC) for the 11th All-Africa Games (AAG).

The NSC had asked the Federation to ensure its athletes won at least three gold medals at the AAG in Brazzaville, Congo.

“The NSC gave us a three gold-medal target, but our target is beyond five to six gold medals.

“I am saying this because of the calibre of judokas we have on ground and the various programmes we have in mind,’’ Oshodi told NAN on Saturday at the Federation’s National Open Trials in Abuja.

He disclosed that the Federation intended to have for its athletes training tours to Ghana and Togo to meet their counterparts, and to prepare them well for the championship.

Oshodi also noted that the best two judokas from 14 of the sport’s categories participated in the trials would be taken for closed camping from next week.

The 2015 AAG is scheduled to hold from Sept. 4 to Sept. 19.
