#NovakDjokovic, world number one tennis player, is now the new ‘King of Clay’, having trounced Rafael Nadal, the acclaimed king, in three straight sets in the quarter finals of the French Open,

The match expected to be the final before the final, failed to live up to the billing as Djokovic tamed Nadal in three sets, winning 7-5, 6-3, 6-1. He also dealt a big blow to Nadal’s spirit: it was his 29th birthday.

But match was not really as easy as the results made it to look.

Both players pushed themselves to the limit and produced a superlative tennis, but the Serb prevailed at the end.

Nadal had won in Paris nine times. But Djokovic, the world number one; had an unbeaten run of 26 matches anywhere; it was one man going for a record 10th title and the other trying to complete the career Grand Slam.

Djokovic’s semi-final opponent will be Andy Murray, who beat Spain’s David Ferrer in four sets in the second quarter final of the day. Swiss star, Stan Wawrinka will play homeboy, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second semi-final.
