Ex-governor Godswill Akpabio and his successor Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state sought reconciliation with political opponents today.
Akpabio apologised to all those he offended in the cause of his official duty, and appealed for unity in the state, while at the same time, urging support for the new governor.
Both Udom and Akpabio spoke today at the ceremony to swear-in the new governor by the State Acting Chief Judge, Justice Stephen Okon.
Udom promised that as the chief executive of the state, he would run an administration founded on peace, unity and justice.
“I will ensure accountability and transparency in government by fighting corruption in all facets of our administration. “
The governor assured that he would pursue the task of rural development and industrialisation with vigour.
Emmanuel, who is the fourth democratically-elected governor of the state, renamed the Ibom International Stadium after the outgoing governor as Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The acting chief judge had earlier sworn-in Mr Moses Ekpo, as the Deputy Governor of the state.

So Udom is not an Ibibio man. It is people like you who have divided the state along dialect lines. I refuse to accept annang and Oro people as a a distinct ethnic groups different from the ibibios. People like you made Akpabio utter statements that made the Ibibio oppose him. For your information Udom and Umana are from the same clan..Iman ibom. They are both ibibios. If you have anything against the ibibios as a group, you can leave Akwa Ibom because they will always call the shot here.
haha akpabio begs! but on a serious note, Udom won the election. Nobody in Akwa Ibom really trusts the APC guy, he was singing akpabio’s praises as SSG but when it became clear that he wasn’t getting akpabio’s support for Governorship, he jumped to APC started this media eletioneering scam. the APC guy is just in it for self enrichment, just like most Ibibio’s in the state he feels, it’s his birthright to rule the state and steal the money that’s why he is supported by Victor Attah, another Ibibio man who tried to replace himself with his son-in-law after his tenure. you may succeed in fooling the tribunal but I not me. maybe if APC picked a different guy to run for them, Akwa Ibom would’ve considered APC but this guy is just a scam. just another “Ameachi”. BTW guys ask Ameachi where is the $150m mega hospital in Port Harcourt, he inaugurated in 2009 to build.
There was no election in Akwa Ibom State. You are just an usurper.
UDOM EMMANUEL` tenure as governor of Akwa Ibom State will be very short. The election was a monumental fraud.
