Gusau said this while speaking at a valedictory session in his honour at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja,
He said he was leaving as a very contented person to go into some other endeavour, especially to face his private business, after putting about 41 years into public service.
Gusau said he was happy that he was leaving the ministry in the capable hands of those who are dedicated to the service of the nation.
`
“I am happy that I met people who are dedicated to the service of the nation in the ministry of defence. And I am leaving the ministry in capable hands.
“ As a retired military General and a highly-sought-after intelligence agent I would often make available service to the defence and the country whenever I am consulted, Gusau said.
He also prayed for the successful tenure of the incoming administration.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Alhaji Aliyu Ismalia, said that staff of the ministry had a cordial relationship with the minister.
Ismalia wished the minister well in his future endeavours.
Gusau was appointed as the Minister of Defence by President Goodluck Jonathan on March 5, 2014. He had previously served as National Security Adviser during former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure.
