The Nigerian Army on Monday announced that it had relaxed the curfew imposed on Maiduguri and its environs following last week’s suspected insurgency attack.
Col. Tukur Gusau, the spokesman of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, disclosed this in a statement in Maiduguri.
“The General officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army Major General Lamidi Adeosun, after accessing the situation in Maiduguri and its environs, has authorised the relaxation of the current 24-hour curfew.
“However, the normal curfew from 7.00 pm to 6.00 am is still effective,” Gusau said.
“The GOC once again thank the good people of Maiduguri for their understanding and cooperation towards the total eradication of insurgency in Borno.
“During the period, only those on essential services like ambulance and fire fighting vehicles on duty would be granted passage,” he said.
