A tour of the polling units in Barnawa, Sabon-Tasha , Ungwar Romi, Kudenda, Nasarawa , Narayi and other parts of Christian dominated areas within the metropolis failed to turn up for accreditation even when INEC officials reported on time.
Barrister Wahab Page Igbuan resides in Barnawa , according to him voters must have refused to come today because they belief their votes might not count afterall.
“People in these areas turned out massively during the presidential election ,because President Jonathan was involved , but in this case, it is two brothers from Zaria , so the turn out would be impressive in the northern areas”. Igbuan stated.
However the turn out was relatively impressive in the northern part of the metropolis and other APC strongholds in the Kaduna Central and Kaduna North senatorial districts.
Meanwhioe, the Kaduna All Progressives Party, APC governorship candidate, former Federal Capital Territory , FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for rising up to the occasion for today’s governorship election in the State .
According to El-Rufai , this time INEC is no doubt better prepared than it did during the presidential in the state, when INEC officials came late to polling units and failure of card readers to function effectively in many polling units.
“I am impressed that the card reader is affective today and with the smooth accreditation exercise.” He Stated.
Speaking shortly after he was accredited at about 9.58am at his Ungwar Sarki 024 polling unit , El-Rufai who expressed satisfaction about the peaceful and orderly manner the accreditation is carried out in most of the areas in the state.
