The crisis rocking the Labour Party in Ogun State took a new dimension Wednesday as the National leadership of the party announced the suspension of both the acting Chairman and Secretary of the party in the State.

Both Comrade Bode Simeon and Olapoosi Oginni have been steering the ship of the party amid controversies which resulted in changing the name of the lawfully elected governorship candidate of the party,Mr Sina Kawonise with one Bolaji Sunmola.

The duo were alleged to have adopted another party candidate without the knowledge of the leadership of the party at the headquarters.

In a statement signed by the National Secretary of the party, Olukayode Ajulo,the party appointed interim officers to be in charge of the affairs in the State.

The Deputy National Chairman of the party, Comrade Callistus Okafor and the Vice National Chairman,Alhaji Bashiru Apampa and others were appointed by the National leadership of the party to take charge of the affairs of the party in the State.

“The attention of the National Leadership of Labour Party has been drawn to a purported endorsement of the Governorship candidate of another political party by the Ogun State Executive Committee of the Labour Party.

“The National Secretariat of our great Party hereby refutes this purported endorsement.

“The party frowns at the illegality of endorsing the candidate of another party without the authority to do so. The acting Chairman and Secretary of the Party in Ogun State are hereby suspended till further notice”,it reads.

Ajulo further stated that,” Comrade Calistus Okafor ( Deputy National Chairman) Alhaji Bashiru Apampa (Vice National Chairman) and others have, in the interim, been directed to oversee the affairs of our Party in Ogun State.

“It bears restating here that LP candidates are viable and vibrant, and we are thus confident that LP will win several States in the coming Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections”,the statement concluded
