Police arrest 3 aides of Gov. Okorocha on election day

The police in Imo state in eastern Nigeria arrested the Commissioners of Information and Strategy (Engr) Chidi Ibe and former Commissioner for Public Utility and head of Security, while on election duty.

Also arrested was the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha , Sam Onwuemeodo.

Governor Okorocha confirmed the arrests to journalists after accreditation in the presidential election on Saturday.

Barrister Okechukwu Okorocha, not a relation of the Governor, was also arrested by police on election duty.

Barrister Okorocha who is said to be an SSA on security matters to the governor heads the state vigilante group ordered to disarm during the election period by the police.

The SSA was said to have disobeyed the police order and was allegedly arrested in possession of a fire arm.

Two of the officials were released later.
