Diminutive Super Falcons attacker Francisca Ordega has signed for United States National Women’s Soccer League club Washington Spirit, the club announced on Tuesday.

Ordega, whose move to the American club is subject to the receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate, joins from Swedish outfit Piteå IF where she has spent the last two years.

In a statement on the club’s website, ”Ordega will join the Spirit in early April following national team duty with Nigeria. She plans to participate in six games for the Spirit before heading to the World Cup with the national team.”

Speaking after the move was announced, Ordega stated “I am really happy to sign for the Spirit because it is a dream come true for me to play in the United States. I can’t wait to join the team and play in my first match.”

In addition, Washington Spirit head coach Mark Parsons said ”She is an explosive player that has the ability to score and create goals and we are very excited to bring her to Washington D.C.”

Ordega was part of the Super Falcons squad that won the 2014 Africa Women’s Championship, having previously helped the Super Falconets to a semi-final place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2012.

The 22-year old will be one of two international players the league allows each club to have on its first-team squad per season.
