The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has recorded another major blow just a week to the presidential election as two members of the party’s Board of Trustees, have moved over to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
Obong Victor Attah, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and Don Etiebet, a major force on the ruling party, are believed to have moved into the APC with over 50,000 supporters and were seen at the rally organised by the APC for Umana Okon Umana, its governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State held at the Ibibio Park Grounds in Uyo, the state capital.
The duo raised the hands of Umana at the rally after Attah told the mammoth crowd in a live televised broadcast on NTA that his decision to support Umunna was based on the desire for change in Akwa Ibom.
Attah said as a political leader in the state, he had to align himself with the majority of the people who want Umana as their governor.
He said despite the fact that he is a member of PDP it was his duty to identify with the wishes of the people of Akwa Ibom.
He also urged the people to vote for APC senatorial candidate who is contesting against the governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio who he accused of breaching the agreement of zoning in the state because of his selfish interest.
Etiebet also enjoined the people to vote massively for APC candidates because these candidates are the choice of the people in the state.
He asked them to ensure that they vote and protect their votes by staying behind to watch the counting of their votes in various polling units to avoid rigging on the day of the election.
